hi, Just read your account of finding a house in Guardia. Good stuff! I'm a Canadian woman (about your vintage) living in Bucharest and I travel to Italy every chance I get. I haven't been to Guardia (saw the Claire installment on HH as well.) and am inspired to visit. Do you rent your house? Do you know of others that want to rent their homes? Do you think the market for new buyers is still decent? Would love to know more. Thanks so much!! Andrea
Hi Andrea, I'm glad you enjoyed the blog! I haven't rented my house out yet, but will consider doing so in the near future.. This will be our first stay this summer and I am still putting a few pieces of furniture and things in. I would recommend the Tanna Del Orso.. the B&B in town that we stayed in first, and a real easy way to get plugged into the community. There are about 8 houses that have sold since September and there are several people coming to Guardia this summer in hopes of finding something. There are still plenty of bargains to be found in the 30k - 40k range that require minimal renovation (maybe paint and then there are the real fixer uppers starting at 8k. and everything in between. I would highly recommend going and visiting.. the town is enchanting and the people warm and friendly.
Hi, I have always wanted to buy a house in Italy but not sure if I can afford it. But after reading Clare's blog and yours, it made me feel positive again that I can do this as well. Are there still houses for sale that do not require major renovation? Are the prices still reasonable? Do you know someone that can help me with finding one? Thank you so much for your time.
